Biocontrol 4.0 at the International Plant BioProTech 2026 Congress in Reims
From 7 to 9 July 2026, the Biocontrol 4.0 project portfolio, supported by the Interreg France-Wallonie-Vlaanderen programme, took part in the international Plant BioProTech congress in Reims with a dedicated booth. This marked the second time the portfolio had participated in an international congress with a booth, following Biosolutions 2025 in Perpignan.
With 230 participants, more than 90 speakers, 75 scientific presentations and over 30 posters, the event provided an excellent opportunity to introduce the Interreg FWVL programme and the Biocontrol 4.0 portfolio to an international audience. It also highlighted how cooperation between France, Wallonia and Flanders contributes to the development of new biocontrol solutions.
The booth attracted considerable interest throughout the congress and encouraged direct discussions with participants about the portfolio’s projects. Two posters complemented this presentation:
🔹 the first outlined the portfolio’s structure and objectives, as well as the links between its projects;
🔹 the second presented a selection of initial results from the Trans-Pathoflax 2.0, Trans-Lipo, Trans-Control, Trans-Pest and Trans-e-Bio projects, ranging from research into microbial solutions to plant trials and the development of digital tools for detecting spores and insects.
Other portfolio partners representing the French and Walloon sides of the cooperation area also contributed to the congress through oral and poster presentations. As part of these contributions, Philippe Jacques presented Biocontrol 4.0’s innovative approaches and the role of digital technologies in the development of biosolutions.
Over the three days, we had many valuable discussions with researchers, companies and representatives of other European projects. We were particularly pleased to meet the team behind the MICROBES4AT-HU project, supported by the Interreg Austria-Hungary programme. Although our projects are being carried out in different regions, they share the same goal: using microorganisms and innovation to develop solutions for more sustainable and resilient agriculture. The booth format used to present the Interreg programme and the Biocontrol 4.0 portfolio also received very positive feedback and was seen as a source of inspiration for future communication activities by other Interreg projects.
Overall, the congress provided a valuable opportunity to showcase the results of Interreg projects, share experiences and build new collaborations across different programmes.
